Improving Access to Healthy Foods Webinar Details:
When: Monday, August 10, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET
Good nutrition is essential to good health. Yet, obstacles to eating healthy – unhealthy food environments, lack of resources to purchase nutritious food regularly and lack of healthy food options in the community – represent major challenges for some to choose and maintain healthy eating habits. Join the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission to Build a Healthier America on August 10, for a discussion about promoting health by improving access to healthy foods. This one-hour program is designed for those interested in creating environments that enable individuals to maintain a healthy diet and who might be unfamiliar with the Commission and its recommendations.
The recommendations resulted from a year-long investigation into factors outside of the health care system that influence health. Released in April, the recommendations identify programs and policies from across sectors – and from across the nation – that are making a difference in the health of all Americans.
This program is the last webinar in a thee-part series the Commission is hosting to discuss its recommendations. If you missed the first webinar, Starting Early, find the slides and discussion here. The recording and slides for the second webinar, Creating Healthier Communities, are available here.
